Really new here and this will be my first spring turkey hunt, well my first turkey hunt ever! I have a SX-3 Winchester but its not camo, am I worrying to much about that? If you think it should be camo I was wondering if they make a slip on sleeve that would help break up the gun?

Black won't matter but if it's on your mind...the Mossy oak camo kit is easy to install. I'd say either use the MO kit or camo wrap this year and plan to have it dipped later.

You have nothing to worry about. I've killed a ton of birds with a wood and blued shotgun.

My turkey guns aren't fully camo. My Win 1300 is laminate and blue, my 870 20 is Advantage Synthetic and Parkerized Black, my 935 is all black.

Had a gobbler literally feet from my 935 Saturday and he didn't see me.

I have the SX3 with the matte gray barrel and stock. I've used it on several turkey hunts and never had a bird spook. Regardless of what camo I use, I always try to stay in the shade and move as little as possible.

You should be fine with your gun as is.

This. As long as you stay in the shade you will be fine. Just remember that turkeys have been killed for many generations well before the camo patterns were ever even thought of for our shotguns. My grandpa used to avoid the sun like the plague when he set up to avoid the sun hitting the shiny parts on his shotgun & he always killed plenty of birds..... Good luck this season....

most all of my shotguns are black or partially camo'ed
movement is the most critical part of turkey hunting

Just point the barrrel at him and only let him see the hole in the end of it!!! You will be fine!!!

Even  if you camo  your  gun,  and  you   move, he will  likely  see  you.


that  being  said,  I  have a nice SxS double  barrel and  when I have  taken  it turkey hunting,
I put  cloth  camo  tape on the barrels to  eliminate any  glint .

For  my  other guns that I  usually  buy  all black,  I  always feel  self  conscious
with a solid  black  gun, cause it  just  seems  to  me  to be out of the  norm in the  woods so, I  have  always either painted the  gun  myself  or  (for the  last  two ) sent the guns off to get  dipped.

Lots and lots of black found in the turkey woods. Turkey wouldn't know the difference between a black stick and my black NEF 20 ga. ---  Movement not color.

I would worry more about reflection off of your glasses from the sun vs whether a gun is camo or not.  What is one of the most pronounced colors on a gobbler?  It sure isn't green.  One of my guns is camo and the other is dull black.  Neither one is any better than the other for an advantage in my opinion.
