Neat stock mod.

A guy I know recently painted a wood, bolt rifles stock w Rustoleum Stone Accents ( I believe ) spraypaint in a tan, speckled black,white etc. natural looking color. He used 3 coats and It looks very nice  like a factory desert camo synthetic stock now, the finish is tough and rough/bumpy and sticks in your hands nicely. I would like to try to apply it to the new black plastic Sureshot stock I got but I do'nt think the paint is compatible ( plastic not listed as a material to paint ) w this water based paint? sorry I have no pics of it. Anyone else done this to their gunstock?

Try cleaning your plastic stock with some of the stumpwater that Popcorn made.  Then buy the Rustoleum spray paint made for plastic. Use this as a base primer--- The Stone Accents then should stick to the primer base coat .( I'm Guessing) -- Then seal it with the spray clear sealer.   I've done 3 stocks this last winter that way but I used just the textured spray paint. --   The photo is of my Remington 7600  .35 W. --- It's not done yet but it's getting there----  I call this design " Blood Trail Green"   ---- Good luck   Web

         This is my Mountain Rifle that I painted to my liking--  Textured paint was only used on part of the fore stock and pistol grip. --- I'm no expert but I find that spraying at least 12" away from the stock in light sprays works the best for me.  good luck   --Web

I like both of your creations alot and am thinking of spraypainting my entire NEF pardner12ga that currently wears camo tape and wrap shown in my " My turkeytakers " post. I really like the stretchy, ace bandage type camo wrap, great grip and quiet moving or bumping brush while stalking. I have it covering my nickel finish CVA Optimas barrel too, but it must be removed if you get caught in the rain and it gets soaked or corrosion is a given. I was afraid to painting these guns for fear of devaluing them if I want to sell them, but I'm gonna go ahead and paint them anyway and I'm pretty sure I won't be selling them either.

I put a new survivor stock on my NEF for this years Turkey season that starts May 1 st.  -- I'm going to spray paint it when I set my mind on what I want it to look like.  Guns do not have to be Cammoed to shoot game , but I will personalize this one also.   If you ever want to sell the one you painted , I'm sure you can remove the paint very easy--- If you sell it ---someday you will wish that you had kept it --  PS.   I'm thinking of putting  loose cooked spaghetti on the stock and spraying it different shades of green and maybe brown in different spots-- letting it dry then removing the spaghetti. -- I'll let ya know how it comes out--- Web

The CVA muzzleloader has the silver/nickel finish too shiny for me, but it does shoot great. I thought I might sell it a while back because I bought the .45 cal one and was'nt quite satisified w it's prefomance on deer w Powerbelts and was thinking of selling/getting a .50 cal. Then I found some 295grn bullets and they helped alot so It's now a keeper, the stock/forearm are factory camo but kinda clashes w the silver barrel and frame. I looked into powdercoating the barrel but it's a little pricey for me so I'm gonna rattlecan it good!!
