New browning bps choke advice

Hello everyone, just wanted to start out by saying I'm a new member and this is an awesome site. Lots of good information on it. So last week I just picked up another browning bps this one just strictly for turkey hunting tho. It's all camo and 3.5 with a 28" barrel so it should be a sweet turkey gun once I get the right choke. I'm using Winchester supreme 3.5" 5 shot turkey loads since my father gave me quit a few boxes of it so I want to use them up. I seen midway USA has the jelly head .670 choke on sale for 36$ so I was think about going with this choke but thought I would get some advice from other people that use a browning and what chokes work best for them. I would like to stay under $50 since I just paid a pretty penny for the gun (being a lefty isn't cheap with guns) lol so the bps works good with me but they aren't cheap. But back to the chokes I want a choke that won't be to tight at 20-25 yards since most of my shots will be close, but on the other hand if I need that 45 yard shot if it's a smart gobbler not coming in it would be nice to have...so kinda need a happy medium in a choke. Any advice will be greatly appreciated, thanks everyone

20 yard patterns probably won't be a whole lot different without a really open choke, so I would concentrate more on a 40 yard goal.  The Jellyhead would be a good place to start...and try using #6 shot in addition to #5s.

I just bought a bps myself as i'm a lefty also.I just put a comp-n-choke .670 on it and i'm in the process of putting a scope on it due to my eyes not being quite what they used to be.Hoping to have it ready to go by tommorow morning, can't wait to shoot it but i'm going to stick with 3" loads.

Let me know how you like that comp n choke would you?

I have an Indian Creek .665 choke for my INV+ BPS with 28" Barrel, and it shoots everything well, both Lead and HTL.

x 2 on the IC .665, in my 24" bbl BPS I get 220-260 at 40 yards with H-13 3.5" 6's.

Using a FF 3 has really helped me center the pattern to my POI...

Yeah I seen midway USA has the IC on sale for 60 bucks but they only have the .660 in invector, I thought for sure my gun was invector plus but it's only invector... Do you guys think .660 will be to tight of a pattern for up close too?

Hogeland806

well nevermind it is an invector plus, i thought it was but i looked on the box and it just said invector so i looked on the manuel and on the barrel so it is invector plus so i can go with the .670 like i wanted. has any one had any expeirence with the jelly head out of these guns?

My invector plus gun(browning gold) loves the .670 Pure Gold with the h13 3.5" magblends.

I get real good results in my 26" invector + with a truglo ssx. The IC .665 is a real good one, and I have heard the H-13 choke does real good as well.

My BPS and Maxxus both shoot the Pure Gold 670 and I get great Patterns, with mag blends and H13 6s and 7s. Also have a Kicks 675 and it performs well too.. Can't go wrong either way......

Well i read good things on the jelly head .670 so i ended up going with that, midway usa has then on sale for 36$ so i couldnt pass that deal up, i didnt have the extra cash to go with a IC or pure gold. So i hope the jellyhead works out good i can post results soon as i get it

I can tell you this much that .670 to .675 will more than likley give you the best patterns at 40yds.

I would also tell you to try some Hevi-13 3.5" 2.25oz #7's when you can.  You just will have to see for yourself how well these loads shoot.  They will smoke the Winchester Supremes that your currently using by over double in the 10" and the 20" will be way better as well.

Hogeland806

Thanks for the advice, how much are thos hevi-13 a box? And #7 shot?

Well they aren't cheap.  5 will cost you around close to $30 a box.  But Hevi-Shot has $10 a box rebates up to 2 boxes whcih would be $20 back if you buy 2 boxes.  But I will promise you this, you won't believe how well they will shoot.  Go do a search on Hevi-13 #7 patterns and you will see.

Rogers Sporting Goods, Midway USA, Mid South Shooter Supply all has them.
