Federal Heavyweight out of a poly choke

Can't seem to find a good answer on this one.  I am looking at lending an old Ted Williams Winchester model 21 20 gauge to a friend starting her first turkey hunt.

Its a solid gun, shoots straight, etc.

My only concern is that it has a poly/twist choke on the end of the barrel, and I was planning on setting her up with a few extra rounds of the federal heavyweight my wife is using in her 20.

I've shot steel out of it back in the day without ill effect, but will it shoot the heavyweight without problems?

Should I be dialing back the choke as to not interfere with the flight control wad?

Thanks for your help.

I don't think you will hurt the gun or choke but I would shoot it open first and work my way down.

Frankly, I've tried it with both the original and the newer one that threads into your muzzle but I can't see good patterns. It just won't compress the wad enough to defeat the original purpose.

Thanks,

Just checked that on gunbroker. I'd put that one up for good. Or sell it and buy 8 or 10 nice turkey guns.

I didn't know there was a Ted Williams version of the Win. Model 21.

I think I got a little confused. The winchester model 21 I'm referring to is a high end side by side. A Ted wiliams model 21 was made for Sears and the pics I have found are of an pump. Sorry for getting off track :P
