Looking to try a Jelly Head -  my question is which one do you think would be best?  The .660 or .665.  I shoot HEVI, 3.5, #7  from a 11-87 with 23in barrel.  I believe the tighter .660 should be better for the smaller shot correct?

Only one way to find out, but if I would have to choose one, I'd go with the .665 with those 3.5" shells. Good Luck and God Bless

With that 23" barrel I'd lean towards the .660. :OGturkeyhead:

I have an 11-87 with a 23in. barrel and shoot 3.5 6's with a .665 Jellyhead. And to be honest the the Factory tube that came with the gun does just as good as the Jellyhead, it's a toss up.

I tried the .660 Jellyhead and the only time I felt it performed better than the factory tube or the Jellyhead .665 is with 3in. #7's. Other than that I perfer the Factory tube and Jellyhead .665, more than the .660. If your tube that came with the gun is Wingmaster HD Turkey/Predator, don't overlook it. When everyone talks about the better tubes, this one is never mentioned, but in my opinion it performs as good, or in some cases out performs some the the popular brand tubes.

Yes, Gun came with the HD Wingmaster.. and it is a good choke. But... I'm changing over from 3in Mag Blends... to 3.5in, HEV #7 .... so I think the tighter JH .660 will be better. That HD wingmaster is around .670 I believe.
We will see..

I thought that too, but when I patterned different size Hevi-13 thru my gun, my findings were different.

When I shot the 3.5 7's the .665 did slightly better than the .660 with my gun, if I remember right the only load I'd consider with the .660 and my gun, was the 3in. 7's. My gun seemed to like the 3.5 6's the best, as numbers with 6's were pretty close to the 3.5 7's, not enough difference to shot the 7's to me?

It's not an 1187 but my 870 with 23" barrel REALLY likes the JH .665 with the Hevi-13 3.5" #7's. It throws a serious pattern with that shell as well as the Hevi-13 3.5" #6's.

Most people have good luck  with the JH chokes,  my gun must be one of the exceptions, I have both .660 and .665 and neither throws a good pattern out of my 1187 with 6 or 7 Hevi.

Same here, although an 11-87.

My patterns with Hevi-3.5 7's were average, where the 3.5 6's were above average getting pretty much the same hits as the 7's. So my thinking was if I'm going to get a bit over 200 hits with either, I'll take the 3.5 6's. One thing I have noticed with the 11-87 Super Mag, as it says right on the barrel "Not intended for light loads" It does seem to like the heavier 3.5 loads the best.
