Quite a few of us on the team are still together from last years contest. It's great to have several new faces. I dont know a few of you guys personally but look forward to getting better aquainted through this years contest. One thing I need each and every member to do is to closely read through the rules of this years contest. If there are any questions at all about the rules now is the time to ask. Here is a link to the rules section of the contest and it also gives a pretty good pictorial on how the pictures are to look.
http://oldgobbler.com/Forum/index.php/topic,2654.0.html We may also get another example of pictures posted on here for reference later on. Guys, if these pictures are blurry and they cannot be read then you will get a default score on it which will lower your score. If you need to practice taking these pictures or learning that new digital camera you got for Christmas, now is the time. If your going to be holding the tape measurer, more than likely you will need the assistance of someone else to take the photos for you. Get them to practice taking close up shots from different angles to ensure they come out right. You dont want to wait cause once you clean the bird then go back and look at the camera, well there's no going back to start over. Also, if you dont have one, go get you a scale for weighing your bird. It does not have to be a high dollar digital scale. It can be a dial scale from Wal-Mart's fishing section. Just as long as you can clearly read the numbers. We dont want anyone, anywhere saying that they cannot read a length or weight on your post.
If there are any members on the team who are participating in the Old Gobbler Spring Contest for the first time, please let us know by posting below. We just want to make sure that you wont have any problems or snags while posting your bird.
An official team kill thread has been posted already. This is for you to enter all the necessary photo's of your birds along with the stats. No one is to post any "congratulations" or "atta boys" on there. Start a new thread with some pics of your kill along with a story so we can give you all the props deserved for your harvest. In the kill thread, make sure your pictures are large enough to clearly see the measurments but not so large to where you have to scroll across a 12 megapixel photo that is 2 feet wide on screen. Again, look at the examples given on the "Rules" thread.
I will be obtaining personal info from some of our new members via PM soon and updating the roster that I emailed to the other guys. Once I get all the info together and the teams are set, I will email a copy of it to all of you once again.
Again guys, if there are any questions at all, please feel free to contact me (Team Captain) or Vicksburg (Team Co-Captain) and we can get things straightened out. This is gonna be a great year for Team Shock Gobble & Awe and we want to keep it fun. Let's do what we do best and make the other teams squeal!!!
Thanks guys,
Travis
