Rem 870 28ga ? with plug

I have taken the plug out of my 12 many times but I don't know how to do it on my 28 ga.  I can not press the end piece down and turn it to get it out.  Any ideas?

On my 870 20 gauge, I just slide a flat head screw driver down through the retaining ring (the piece that holds the spring in) and pry it up gently. Never damaged it doing this and it works easy.
