SBE2 w/ Nitros and Lengthened Forcing Cone??

Just purchased a used SBE2 w/ steady grip and trying to make it the ultimate turkey killer. Just purchased a FF3 w/ protector for it, and thinking of sending it to Rob Roberts.. I am partial to Rhino and Nitros, just because I have taken alot of gobblers with it and I know it works. Called and talked to a few people today, and they said that if I shoot Nitros, that Nitro recommends not getting the forcing cone lengthened? I want Rob to make it a killer, and thought of getting a trigger job, lengthened forcing cone, slammer button, ported... etc. Just didn't know about his choke vs. a Rhino. I know he uses different shells than nitro, but I know there is alot of knowledge here and want some input from some of you benelli users..... WHAT DO I DO??!?!?!? Waiting on my FF3 to get here and wanting to buy the Warne rail but Midway is currently sold out?

Well i have a Rob Roberts final strut in my SBEII and it shoots the HTL loads great. I haven't tried the nitro stuff but i bet it would be awesome. I can say this Rob will work with you until you are getting the patterns you are looking for. I swapped out 4 different choke until I found the one my gun liked. Rhino will not do that and there customer service, well good luck. I also highly recommend Indian Creek and Sumtoy, they to will work with you.

I used the Rhino choke with my SBE2 with 3.5" Magblends.  Averaged around 220 with a nice even pattern.  I also used a Pure Gold 670 with the same shell and got great results averaging around 190.  I actually wound up using the PG because the pattern was near perfect and extremely even and I would rather have an even pattern than high numbers that had gaps/holes in it.  The 20 inch patterns were equally impressive.

If those kind of numbers are ok for you, then you may want to wring out that Benelli first to see what it can do before sending it off to Rob Roberts.  BTW...EGW makes a really nice picatinny rail for the SBE2

FYI   I have a SBE II that I had Rob Roberts do the force cone mod on and do the pattern testing.  I am using his custom .660 choke and shoot the nitro loads.  It patterns great and I have harvested a bird at 53 yards in each of the past three years.  I use a leupold (sp) 2 x 7 scope.   have been very pleased with the results/

What kind of numbers are you getting?

I shoot an SBE 2 as well. Using a Rhino .660 and Nito's I'm getting around 220 as well. I have an EGW picatinny rail with an Aimpoint 9000SC red dot on top.
