Amen. Its scary how far we have fallen morally as a country..

Spring_Woods

Nice! Our best shot at restoration is sen. Marco Rubio.

Rand Paul is okay, but the tea party movement has lost it's appeal the last few years.
Sadly enough, we let the only GOP candidate retire that could have saved us and that was Ron Paul.

I was born just after the Reagan era. I've watched a few of his speeches and they are very inspiring.

I've often asked people about him and the common answer I get is;
He brought America together and made us feel united.

Sad that it hasnt taken us very long to go so far a stray that we may never be able to right this ships course.

But we can sure as hell try.

If I could select a candidate for president, it would be Mike Huckabee or Dr. Benjamin Carson.  If you haven't heard of that last gentleman, take a look...

Dr. Carson laid it all on the table... with president obama sitting right there at the table.

He's a nut.  He confirmed it with the comments about Chris Kyle.  He understands the threats of bad fiscal and monetary policy, and he's not an interventionist, but that is it.  He cannot stand, speak, and persuade because he oozes kookiness, and he could never move the country.

Yes. He is different but you can't throw him under the bus for one comment. They are politicians, they all say stupid things at any given time.

As far as moving the country did he not win Florida? He won a couple of other states too if I'm not mistaken?

Do you really believe Mitt Romney was qualified to run this country? Or did you do like most (including myself) and vote for the lesser of two evils?

I didn't vote so much for Romney, I voted against obama.  That said, I could never vote for Ron Paul due to his stance on allied relationship with Israel (or lack of), legalization of prostitution and legalization of multiple street drugs that are currently illegal.
I would definitely be willing to listen to Rand Paul to find out more about his positions on a variety of topics.

I'll throw this out as my personal belief, not as an official party position...
The republican party for the most part is shifting its image to more closely mirror that of the democratic party.  Its shifting position on immigration and illegals shows that as a whole, it no longer has a spine.  The focus, like that of democrats, is more on staying in or regaining power than it is on the best interest of America and legal Americans.  I think they are completely missing the point by trying to look more like democrats, which may actually lead to the legitimization of a third party, be it the TEA party or something not yet established.
Obviously the media for the most part is tanking for obama and all things detrimental to the moral and financial best interest for our nation.  That said, they are able to make many people believe that the bulk of Americans are pro-homosexual, pro-tax the rich, pro-evolutionist and against anything remotely related to Christian beliefs, expressions or values.  They attempt to turn anything they want to promote into a "civil-right" and have no issues with labeling anyone who would dare disagree with them as bigots, haters or intolerant.  If you would speak out about the likely outcomes of a world left in the downward spiral it is currently in, you will be ridiculed and accused of wearing a "tinfoil hat".
Like it or not, this nation was founded and grew to prominence and providential blessing as a result of its foundations on Judeo Christian values and principles.  Those values and principles are now mocked, ridiculed and deemed outdated by many in power or position of addressing large groups of people.  It is my personal belief that NO government plan or program will turn this nation from its current course.  No policy or agency will make any meaningful, positive impact on the state of this union.  The ONLY thing that will cause a turn from the current course of this nation is a RETURN to a belief in and a desire to serve a sovereign God.  The Bible clearly states:

Psalm 33:12
New International Version (NIV)

12 Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
the people he chose for his inheritance.

Before anyone becomes an armchair theologian and tries to say this verse only applies to Israel, read the following:

Romans 8:15-17
New Living Translation (NLT)

15 So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God's Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, "Abba, Father." 16 For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God's children. 17 And since we are his children, we are his heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs of God's glory. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering.

This tells me that the people, the individuals who seek to do the will of and fullfill the purpose of God on this earth become as His family, and share in the benefits as heirs.  The first thing we think of when we hear the word "heirs" is "inheritance".  Go back and see if the verses don't begin to gel together and make sense...

We each have a choice what we will do with God.  His word clearly states that the nation that recognizes Him as "Lord" or Divine Leader, giver of direction, source of truth and right... will be blessed.

I don't give a rip about political correctness.  Political correctness has never provided income for me when I didn't know how the bills were going to get paid.  Political correctness has never restored my broken relationships.  Political correctness has never healed me of cancer or delivered my loved ones from the grip of depression.  God has, and I choose to serve Him and refuse to apologize to anyone for it.

Thank you... I'll step off of my soapox now.

I haven't done a ton of looking into the libertarian party, but everything I have learned about it, I like. The problem with GOP vs Democraps, is they they are mostly one and the same, like lightsout pointed out. Government needs to get SMALLER, not bigger. And really all that the two main parties care about, is bigger government in some form or fashion.

I like Wendell's post....very well put
I am afraid that the Republican Party is going to go lax on social issues such as gay marriage, abortion and linient on immigration just so they can hang with the democratic party. They honestly do not believe that they can win another election unless they fold on these issues.
We are not just fiscally conservative but we are also conservative in our values. We cannot bend on social matters just so we can get our "party" into office. We as Christians are going to have to stand up against this and let our senators and reps know that if you fold on these issues you will not be re-elected.

You can't discount a man on one comment--he's human.  However, it's getting to the point where I can't stand to look at these politicians!  Liars and thieves the whole lot of them.

We NEED term limits on everyone in Government.  That includes the Supreme Court justices.  Too much power = corruption.

Yesterday I was out for hours at Best Buy looking at one of those new fangled iPad tablet things.  The technology is truly frightening.  Turn on the TV or the radio and the wickedness that pours out is mind blowing.  I just don't see a way to right this ship as I believe it would entail getting rid of alot of the garbage that's out there!  How:

-  get rid of ALL reality TV.  Instead, show stories and news that inspires us to have better character!  i.e.  shows about folks like Dr. Benjamin Rush, Benjamin Franklin...  people who done wonderous things for society or overcame overwhelming odds to succeed.  Patriotic stories about this GREAT country!

-  shut down every news outlet that tells lies.  The American people are being lied to plain and simple.  WE HAVE A HUGE "Spending Problem"... and anyone whose balanced a checkbook knows it!

-  get rid of frivolous internet stuff like Facebook, Twitter, APPs and games.  Pick up any good books lately.

-  Shut down the public Schools.  Privatize them all and put the Bible back where it belongs.  The public schools are indoctrinating our children with socialism, communism and (I shudder) political correctness.

That's just the start of my wish list for America, however, I realize that can't happen EXCEPT through PERSONAL Choice!   Like I said, it's all about the Constitution!  That framework brought us the freesoms we have today...God given freedoms!  It's REALLY up to us parents and grandparents to help guide the younger ones...  We do not watch network TV in this house.  If it's not a positive influence on our character, it's not allowed.  Commericals are muted.  Conservative radio (limited to a few select shows.)  No horrid music...  we brought our boys up on Classical, church music, even some bluegrass...  words matter!  We home school...  no garbage in from liberal influences or hooligan peers.  We read the Bible...  we go outside and have fun outdoors.  Will it be enough to combat those wrong influences as our boys grow?  I just don't know.

In my heart, I believe Jesus is coming soon!  But until He does, I'm going to keep working at making a differnce for our country in whatever ways I can--especially in prayer.

"If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." 2 Chronicles 7:14
