Want to add a semi-auto to the safe. I really like mossberg. Can anybody give advice about patterns on the models available. Are patterns comparable to the 835?

I have been really impressed with the Mossberg 930. It is a standard bore gun and chambers 2.75" or 3" shells. It is frankly a great gun. It is exceptionally well made with a great bore and excellent trigger. There are a multitude of models and one that will suit just about anyone. I have the black/synthetic with matte receiver and 28" barrel model. It truly patterns as well as any gun I've ever shot. Great gun.

I also have a Mossberg 935 NWTF camo model with 25" barrel that has the .775 overbore just like the 835. It's also a very good bun, a bit heavy and weighted toward the muzzle however. Mine will cycle 2.75", 3" and 3.5" shells reliably although Mossberg classifies it as a 3" and 3.5" gun. It patterns very well and again the quality of this gun is excellent.

I shoot mainly 3" shells and only shoot 3.5" when I'm evaluating some new choke or other product so the 3.5" chamber is not a real advantage to me. If however it is to you, then the 935 would be an excellent choice.

Either way, you won't go wrong.

I have the Mossy 935 and love it. Bought a 22" barrel (I like it better for maneuverability in the woods) off of G/B and then bought the Choate pistol grip stock and changed the factory stock out. Added a set of Tru Glo Pro Magnum Gobble Dot adjustable sights and then took it to William at Sumtoy. With Hevi 13 #7s and his choke, even with the short barrel, it is simply vicious!  I will try to find my pattern and get it posted. Good luck and Happy Hunting however you decide.

My buddies 935 patterns just as well as my 835 if this helps. He loves his.

930 = 500 type barrel and chokes
935 = 835 type barrel and chokes
Both great guns, can't go wrong with either choice in my opinion

I just bought the 935 with a 24" barrel. I went with the 935 instead of the 930 because I wanted to shoot 3.5" shells.

Both are great guns in my opinion!

Mac, here is the pattern from my gun with the HV 13 # 7s and the Sumtoy choke. Granted it is only 30 yds, but I feel certain that at 40 yds she will be just fine.
