Problem with Danners

Got a pair of Danner Jackal II snakeboots in the mail yesterday. They're obviously well made boots, lighter than any snakeboot I've ever put on. However, theres a problem with them. The right boot fits perfectly, comfortable as can be. The left boot, well there's the problem. The seam where the upper is stitched to the lower, just below the eyelet for the lace, tends to fold and crease inward with every step. Which feels like a quarter sized rock digging into my ankle with every step. I have no doubt that wearing these boots for more than an hour would leave my left ankle bruised and blistered. If the left boot fit like the right boot, there wouldn't be a problem. I'm assuming theres some type of fault with the stitching on that seam. To be honest I'm disappointed. After hearing so much good about danner it's hard to swallow a fit and quality issue with a 250 dollar pair of boots. I ordered them from sportsmans warehouse and I'll be sending them back in the morning. Not sure whether to order another pair of Jackals and hope for better or try another boot brand. Anyone here had similar problems with danner?

I got a pair last season and wore them everyday with zero problems. I would contact Danner and let them know your problem, I'm sure they will take care of you and also help them fix their issue.

As I posted earlier, I Love my Danner Jackals and haven't had a problem with them.  I would contact Danner before returning them to see if they can help.  When I ordered mine from Sportsman Warehouse, they were drop shipped straight from Danner anyway.

I know most people on here swear by them but if you read all the reviews you will find that lots of  people who buy imported danners will never buy anything else from danner. Keep in mind that some of the reviews are people who haven't had them long or put them on 4 or 5 times a year to turkey hunt.USA made boots are a different story. Only problem with that is 5 years from now if you need them worked on they may not still have a shop in USA. :smiley-patriotic-flagwaver-an

OP I am having the same problem with mine. Let us know if you find a remedy.

IMO if at all possible avoid buying footwear online, go try them on somewhere.
Danners are the best boots I've ever worn.  Also the least expensive considering the wear I've gotten.
I'm considering some like you are having a problem with so let us know how it works out.

Thanks

I have seen boots do that in the ankle flex area.  Just in how the material chose to fold.  It will stop once the material is broken in.  Here is a suggestion to try before sending it back.  Notice where the material is folding and digging in when the boot flexes.  Identify the offending fold.  Soak the material in that spot, then flex the fold in the opposite direction and let it dry.  It may take a different set and allow you to wear it till it throughly breaks in.

I had a pair of those particular Danner boots and the very first time I stepped into water they leaked like a sieve.  I went to wade a wide but shallow Ozark creek and on the very first step I felt water rush into my left boot.  It was like wading with tennis shoes on.  The creek at that place was only about 8" deep.  By the time I got across the creek my left foot was sloshing in water inside the boot.  The right boot did alright.  I ordered mine from Cabela's and they allowed a return, but issued a gift card for the value of the boots, which essentially ties up your money with Cabela's.  Take that into consideration if a person should decide to order their boots from there.

Thanks for the suggestions everybody. I haven't had a chance to send them back yet, so I'll probably try skeeters suggestion. Might save the hassle of exchanging them. This is why I don't like to order boots online but nobody in my area carries danner

Thought I'd give an update on the solution to my problem. I tried skeeters idea. While it didn't completely fix the problem, it made a very noticeable difference. The boot is much easier to walk in for sure. I'm going to repeat the process tonight and see if that helps further. May not have to send these back after all.
