Couple poor mans calls

These are made of river cane, allowed to dry, then pieced together, the 2011 one already has a couple beards to it's credit. Mighty good for a beginner to get the materials cheap and start tinkering. Works better leaving the mouth piece long, drilling it out with a small diameter drill bit, a dremel will work for the other two joints. I put these together with epoxy, 1/4 " faucet washer makes a good indicator on the mouth piece

Nothing like killing a long-beard with something you made.

callmakerman

Two very fine callers and as Brian said nothing better than taking birds with a call you made.

Spring Creek Calls

Poor man's calls are right down my alley. Hope to see some of them in the classifieds. Good job on them!

The Cohutta Strutter

Nice.... the darker material at the joints, is that some kind of wrap material or is it the epoxy you mentioned ? Strutter..

Strutter:: i wrap over the epoxied joints wiith nylon thread, coat the thread with stabilizer from the rod building shop, then apply a light coat of epoxy over most of the call, leaving a section dry to handle , turn slowly for 20 minutes, then hang to dry for 24 hrs, repeat process on other end. I really like the epoxy, it is self leveling and gives a glass like finish

The Cohutta Strutter

Thanks, keep up the nice work!
