It's the one that you have at your shoulder when a big tom walks out in front of you.

Seriously, there are a great many excellent turkey guns. It's really what ever fits you, feels good to you and works with your budget.

Any gun that is capable of chambering a 3" shell (2.75" will work but your have more choices in 3") will do the job. You don't need to spend a bunch of money, just learn what your gun is capable of and go from there. The "kick" is in the hunt, not in the kill, so just pick a gun that fits you and have fun.

Thanks,
Clark

what they both said above..

I'll take the bait and give my opinion. Mossberg 835. Very versitle and not very expensive.
Jakes are like scotch. They are not worth a darn until they age.

A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands, love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper; his hands remember the rifle.

Spring Creek Calls

Winchester 1300. Will shoot great patterns with the right choke/load combo in both 2.75" and 3" shells.

well I will tell you what I know Tomtaker47
More hunters choose a pump.
More hunters choose 3.5''
More hunters choose 12 ga.
More hunters choose camo over blued.
More choose 870 than any other pump.
All this is according to surveys on this page.
So a Remington 870Magnum camo would be the most common.
However the 835 Mossberg and Benelli Super Black Eagle have strong following.
What do you mean by "best"...my idea is a compromise of weight, length and pattern.
If you always kill on the first shot look at the encore 12 ga barrels.
I could hunt with almost any gun that has a red dot sight like the Burris Fastfire.
I had a friend buy a Gobbler Max 870 and frankly it is awesome.

Yepper ... My 870 sps supermag paired up with some hevishot is plenty best for me.

They all kill turkeys
This. I hunt with a Mossberg 835, but that is strictly personal. You as a hunter have to find what works for you, and will give you your best chance for success.
No matter what your choice is, you have to find a choke and load combo that will put at least 100 pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards.
