setting up in open country

When hunting highly pressured birds on public ground I find that the way I have to set up can be very specific. If you don't take the high ground an sit in a spot where the bird has to come into range to look at you, then you'll be treated to watching a gobbler circle your position at 50 to 70 yards.

I wonder if this is generally the case out west or anywhere the country is wide open with less vegetation. How do y'all set up on birds out there?

I've set up in anything from tall, dead weeds against a fence row to under a cedar tree in a draw to call in birds here in Oklahoma and up in Kansas.  It does help to use terrain to your advantage so that the bird will be in range when he shows up.

LIke said above, use any terrain you can find.  If not ground blinds always seem to work fine out in open fields/pastures for me.  Heck I've even seen people use layout blinds
