1943 model 37

Does anybody know about this gun.....it is a 1943 model 37 serial number 68316 ....it is stamped US on receiver and has a P on barrel and us bomb ordinance on the barrel ....just wandering what it is worth ...I picked it up today...

It also has the duck engraving on the receiver

Stu Wright at http://wrightsgunsmiths.com/ is always a good source of information for older guns and you might want to contact the "new" Ithaca Gun Company as well to see if they can be of any help.

I'm sure there are also some folks on OG who collect Ithaca guns and can be of help to you with other sources to help you establish a value.

I've never been an Ithaca collector and can't really be of much assistance to you other than possibly direct you to some good sources.

Thanks brothers for the info ......ok I called a couple of people ...I have a factory 1943 model 37 riot gun used by our military mainly for patrol...etc.....stu and others told me from the factory I spoke with ...that during the war Ithaca...Remington and stevens recalled their guns and paid approx 25% more than what people bought them for....converted them and sent them to war.....I feel proud to own a piece of history......and to pass it down to my children....
