Every year in May I run a dove call count survey. Basically at daybreak I drive 20 miles stopping every mile to listen for 3 minutes for mourning doves. I count up the total number of birds heard and seen durring/between stops. Well every year on Stop #4 I hear turkeys. This year was no different, but this time there was a bird on both sides of the road. Nice to hear them Gobble after season has been shut down for over a month. Gets me pumped every year. One day I may find out who owns that piece of land and ask to turkey hunt it.
