I am trying to get a few choke ideas for the federal heavy #7s. Rite now i have a hevi-shot turkey choke. I shot the hevi magnum blend this year did the job but left alot of room for improvement! Anybody have a good recomendation for the federal 7s? I have not tryed them in the hevi shot tube and not sure if i should being its ported. Any help would be great!

I don't have a mossy 500' but I do shoot the same choke system in a weatherby sa08.

My sumtoy moss berg accuchoke/Winchoke is putting up 140 40 averages with the federal 7 s. Averages about 235 at 30.

Have you shot any of the #7 HW through your factory choke yet?? I have the same gun and shoot the factory choke with the Fed #7 HW and cann get 150 in a ten @ 40 all day.

I purchased a Mossberg Super Bantam for my 10 year old to hunt turkey and have been working to find the best choke/ammo combination.  It was a challenge given the Super Bantam's short barrel.  One of the first things I did was replace the sights on the barrel with Truglo's Magnum Gobble Dot sights which are fully adjustable.  The shotgun shot low and to the right out of the box and the adjustable sights were needed to get the pattern centered on the target.

Also, the shotgun's bore did not seem all that bright after a couple "deep cleanings" a la Clark Bush so I polished with JB Bore Paste and JB Bore Shine it as outlined in the below thread using a worn 20 ga. bronze brush and a cotton patch in place of the Scotch Pad:

The bore now looks like a mirror like my Benelli's chrome lined barrel.  

After trying several brands of lead turkey loads the ammo I've settled on are the 3" Hevi-13 and Federal's Heavyweight shells in #6 and #7.  The best choke with the Hevi-13 has been the 0.555" Swarm choke with 40 yard 10" patters of 96 and 129 for #6 and #7 shot, respectively.  

The Federal Heavyweight shells seem to prefer a smooth non-ported and more open choke.  The factory full choke put 97 #7 pellets in a 10" circle at 40 yards.   A Carlson 0.575" turkey choke, P/N 10300, put 90 #7 pellets 10" circle at 40 yards.  Despite the lower pellet count in the 10" circle the overall pattern with the Carlson was better being very symmetric and even.   I emailed Federal about the 20 ga. Heavyweight shells and they recommended using a improved cylinder or modified choke but I have not tried that yet.  I guess having spent the cash on the fancy turkey chokes I don't want to learn they were unnecessary.

Bought my daughter one two years ago...factory choke shot good with Winchester 3" #6s, bought her a Primos tightwad and Fed #7s and wow is all I can say thing shoots nice tight even patterns and she killed a gobbler this year so this is her new favorite gun ! going to put a Mueller Quick shot on for next season. I would say try the factory choke first run some brands down range and see what ya get, if you don't like try something new.

With my super bantam I get incredible results with the undertaker hevishot choke and hevi13 number sixes. This combo looks like decent 12 guage patterns at 40 yards.

Be careful of using hevi shot in the factory choke tube I think most of Mossberg's tubes are lead only and can cause problems.  I have been getting around 160 Fed. #7 HW in a 10" circle at 40 yards with my Rem. 1100 20 gauge with a Carlson .575 non-ported tube.

how is HTL shells going to hurt factory chokes,most all of Mossberg's factory chokes are rated for steel shot except for the x full chokes
I don't understand how someone says that the HTL shells can hurt a factory choke and yet they shoot them through even tighter turkey chokes
