BOFF

Welcome to Old Gobbler.

It would be better asking in the Turkey Guns forum, under the "Turkey Guns and Shooting" section.

God Bless,

First of all welcome to OG. We look forward to hearing more from you and getting to know you better.

Congratulations also on a great gun. I have owned several BPS models over the years and currently own a 3" gun and a 3.5" gun. I've been working with both of those for the last 3-4 weeks using some different chokes.

Is yours an Inivector or Invector+ model? Both are excellent and can make great turkey guns. It would also be good to know the barrel length to help a little more.

Regardless of the model or barrel length, I'd encourage you to "deep clean" the barrel. New guns and used guns both can benefit from this process and it can allow you to optimize the performance of any choke or shotshell. Browning makes some to the best commercial barrels I've seen and a good cleaning is all that's normally necessary.

Shells are a pretty easy recommendation for me, regardless. My guns do best with 3" Hevi-13 shells with 2 oz. of shot, either #6 or #7. They are consistent performers and deliver excellent killing patterns our to 40 yards.

Please let us know about the model and barrel length and we can be of more help.

Thanks,
Clark

I have a 26" Inv+ and it's good with a Pure Gold .670 shooting H13 3-2-6's and 3-2-7's.  I could probably spend a ton more cash experimenting and end up with a few more holes in some paper, but I doubt it would be worth it.  It's a solid performer in the field, as is.

My buddy shoots a 3" INV+ BPS using a HeviShot Choke and Mag Blends and gets 200 or so in the 10" at 40, very even patterns.

You would alos get excellent results with H13 6s ot 7s and up your pellet count in the process.

Its the invector plus 28" barrel

That's a great combination. My son has a 3" BPS with a 28" barrel that is the best patterning Browning I've shot. He let me use it for a couple of seasons on the still target shooting circuit.

The 2 chokes that work best for me are the SSX and the Hevi-13 turkey choke. Both of those have worked well for my readers as well. I've also had a number of readers purchase the Pure Gold and report excellent results. I'd be happy with either of those and the Hevi-13 shotshells.

Good luck and please let us know if we can help.

Thanks,
Clark

MSHUNTER I have a bps nwtf gun that i have used for the last 10 yrs and tried several chokes and a lot of different shells in and for me a briley choke .675  that I bought used off  the forum has been the most consistent with lead and a carlsons .665 has been the best with the bronze hevis in 6's or 7's . When trying lead shells I found that my gun patterned the standard velocity 2oz 5, or 6.s much better than high velocity loads no matter which choke I tried . I spent a lot of time and money to come to this conclusion but the more expensive chokes such as Kicks ,pure gold and hevi didnt put any more holes in targets or turkeys than the Briley or Carlsons for me .

REBELYELL

Pure Gold .670 and Hevi-13 6's, 7's or mag blends. Indian Creek is another good choice, in .665 or .675.
