Last week just had an incredible hunt with my wife on some public land in Georgia.  After hearing two longbeards drumming for over 20 minutes right at 50 yards, a few soft clucks finally coaxed one into view.  I was glad he showed when he did, cause my heart couldn't take much more!  Nancy put a load of Fed. Heavyweight #7's right where it needed to go at 32 yards.  The big bird didn't even flap, down like a sack of taters!  Awesome triple bearded bird with 10-5/8", 8", and 5" beards, and sharp 1-1/8" spurs.  The new M2 was my birthday present, but looks like my wife has since claimed it as her own!  No problems though, as I love having her hunt with me.

Wow- Great bird.  Great to hunt with your wife.  Looks like it may be time for a second M2... wish I had that problem!

Did you have to get the M2 drilled and tapped?

Yes, could not find a M2 already drilled and tapped except with the slug barrel.  My local gunsmith drilled/tapped 4 holes for me, only $20 a hole.  I almost did not go the M2 route due to the higher initial cost, and the hassle to get the receiver drilled, but man, so glad I did.  Worth every penny.  This is my new, by far, favorite shotgun.  The quality is bar none, and it just feels so right in my hands and shouldering, not to mention it is so lightweight.  Perfect for long hikes looking for a longbeard.  I decided to go with the Fed. Heavyweights due to the downrange energy, so I stated off with the Pure Gold Temptest .570, but it didnt perfom as well as I wanted, but Pure Gold allowed me to swap it out with the .555 Temptest, and bingo, awesome pattern at 40 yards.  Have the gun topped with a nikon monarch scope.  I just prefer a scope with those tight patterns as I feel much more confident in shot placement, and mainly since my wife feels the same way.  In her words, its a "sure thing if I have the crosshairs on him."

Yep, a good problem to have indeed.  And believe it or not, if I can get the money saved up, I will get another M2.  I am backing her up with a TC Pro Hunter Encore, and that thing kicks like a mule, a very big mule!  Not that the pattern of the TC is bad, cause I have tried three chokes in it to find the best one, but that 20 GA. with Fed. Heavyweight #7's out performs the best 40 yard pattern in the TC, which is with Winch. Ex. Range #6's.

The addiction will cost you time and money and alienate those close to you. I can give you the names of a dozen addicts — myself included — whose wives begin to get their hackles up a week before turkey season starts and stay mad until a week after it closes.

Congrats to your wife and to you for taking her turkey hunting! Nice write up and pics too!
If I had a dollar for every gobbler I thought I fooled I'd be well off!

Congrats on all. That's awesome.  What is your barrel length for your set up?

XCBlur

I have a 26" barrel.  The scope is a Nikon Monarch, 1.5x4.5  20mm with the turkey plex.  Unfortunately they dont make them anymore.  The newer model has a larger objective, and like this smaller, lighter model.   The light transmission is great.  You can see to shoot through this scope before you can see your beads to shoot.  The base is a 93A Weaver Base.  The rings are steel Nikon Scope Rings, Model 8182, in APG.  I found a few more rings available, but none in APG.
