What choke and shell combos are you mossberg guys getting great 40 yard results with? I've owned mine since they came out and still have the original tube.

I use a SumToy choke and Hevi 13 3.5" 2.25oz #7 shells.  Get 230 - 250 hits in 10" circle at 40 yards.

Of the easy to find chokes I've had the best luck with an IC .675. Shoots 200 + with the 6's and 250 + with 7's. I've got a Stardot in her now and I'm getting 270+ with the 7's and hadn't tried 6's thru it.

StarDot with H13 3.5' 6's, H13 3" 6's, or H13 3.5" 7's are all in the 200's.

Rhino Choke (.695) and 3 1/2" Nitro Company Shotshells (4 X 5 X 7 hevishot). Around 300 hits in a 10" circle at 40yds.

Pure Gold .670 and 3 1/2 Hevi #7's = 300 plus in 10" at 40 with Lot #300325

You've already had a number of recommendations. I'll just add a couple that I've seen good results with in my 835, 935 and SSi-ONE. The first is the Hevi-13 Turkey Choke and the second is the SSX. They have very different internals but both shoot a number of shells very well.

The Pure Gold turkey choke also works very well, especially with the 3" Hevi-13 "Bronze" shells with 2 oz. of #6 shot.

I would however add that before I invested in any aftermarket turkey choke, I would "deep clean" your bore and your current choke tube. It may improve your patterns so much that you will not need another turkey choke.

If you're not familiar with that process, you may click on my banner below this post and read the article "Cleaning a Shotgun Barrel". It really helps more than you might imagine.

Thanks,

I have shot most of the chokes available for the 835 from Indian Creek, Pure Gold, Jelly Head, MAD Max, Star Dot, Undertaker, Comp-n-Choke, TruGlo SSX.  The best choke out there period is the Star Dot .676.  But I wouldn't even consider paying $120 for one from the crazy sellers off of ebay.  They don't make them anymore, but you can buy the choke that is supposed to be the exact same as the Star Dot from the folks that made them at Colonial Arms.  But I was told by a guy on here that the one he bought wouldn't touch his Star Dot.  So there appears to be some differences from the new Colonial turkey chokes on the internals vs that of the original Star Dot chokes.  But I will tell you out of all these chokes I have shot, the best value for the money with Hevi-13 loads is the TruGlo SSX .670 choke.  I don't care if it is made in China.  You won't beat it for the $40 or less.

And I will add after seeing mightjoeyoung's TruGlo Bone Collector pattern on here with the Hevi-13 #7's it might even be better yet.

I thank you all for the great info. This gives me a lot to think about for next season.
