Well it's really warm here in MS today, about 75 degrees right now w/ some bad weather about to move in.  I decided I'd go out and put up a few trail cams on our land before the storms move in so I drove out to a couple spots I thought they might be walking by and put them out.

I saw a few tracks here and there but haven't seen a lot of turkeys with my owns eyes yet.  I know they'll be back, just haven't seen them yet.  Well I decided to drive up one of the back ridges to just spot from the truck and see if I could see anything.  It's quite a steep ridge and you can't see anything until you top over.  Well as soon as I topped over with my truck there was a flock of about 30 turkeys only 50 yds from the truck WITH A BIG STRUTTER RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE.  I almost choked on my drink I had at the time.

They started to move off, at a pretty slow pace and the whole time this tom was still strutting as he walked away at about 100 yds. As I backed out I could see them stopping and assume they just stayed there.  The whole encounter was only about a minute tops bc I wanted to just get out of there.  There could have been another tom or 2 but they weren't strutting if they were there. At least 25 hens.

Nice to see they're moving back, and I have a feeling the strutter is my arch enemy, "tubby", who is moving back into his spring grounds.  He's the boss bird on our farm, or was last year anyways.  Just thought I'd share.  :z-guntootsmiley:
