Well, today was an outstanding day. I killed doubles again this year (second year in a row) and after bowing my head in reverence it occurred to me that I also wanted to thank a few OG members for their contributions to the harvest. Thanks again to William at SumToy for the rockin' new choke. Smoked 'em in their tracks with #6, 3", 2oz copper plated lead at 40 yards. Thank you Gobblez. Your box call had 'em fired up and running in hard when my Lynch's wouldn't get a peep out of 'em. Thank you RedArrow for the shotgun name idea and to Mackdieseldude for the barrel decals.

Stats on the take:
Bird #1   16 lbs., 8 inch beard, 7/8 in. and 1 in. spurs
Bird #2   18.5 lbs., 10 inch beard, 1 inch spurs

Congrats on the double!!!

Nothing like having it all come together!!

God Bless,
David B.

I have to give the credit where it's due. It certainly didn't happen because of my spot selection or skills. (I picked a horrible setup location and made more goof ups in the five minutes prior to killing them than all of last season combined.) Thankfully the box call was too sweet for them to pass on. My glass and slate pots were not producing any good sounds although I spent almost an hour conditioning them all the night before. I arrived at the area I hunt much later than what I would have liked and was still setting up when I saw the first flydown. I honestly thought the whole hunt was a wash before it even began. It was an almost identical situation to last year when I doubled on the first two gobblers I ever killed. Luck was on my side, to be sure. The feeling of sheer frustration at the thought of a wasted hunt was quickly put to rest by the thrills of standing over those two gobblers. I'm calling it a season, I believe. I really don't see how it could get much better than this.   :icon_thumright:

Hey great job man on two fantastic gobblers. Sometimes that change up call is all it takes to get it done!! Congrats!
