Well I have been beat 3 times in a row.The birds are roosted near or on the property line of mine and another.I dont have permission to hunt that property, but as soon as they fly down they are henned up,my blind is about 150 yds away. They gobble and gobble, then here comes the hens right between the Toms and me tnen they go to the other property. then the woods are quiet forever. I was thinking to sneak in on my side closer and the call a little.I think I could cross the line a LITTLE say 40 yds. Im afraid of getting too close to the roost area, been busted doing that.Another question is,if they roost in the same area,do they just make one big circle Back to the roost area?

I think you should borrow a page from the fall hunters here and slip in there right after dark one evening and scatter them good. Get right under them and really make some noise. In the dark they will fly all directions, then they will have to roost alone all night. That will make those gobblers awful anxious to see their hens in the morning. Get on them fast and lay the calling on thick. They may just trip over their beards to get to you. Its a desperation tactic that has roasted a lot of henned up gobblers over the years. Good luck!
That ol' tom's already dead. He just don't know it yet .... The hard part is convincing him.

Are you REALLY working that gobbler, or is HE working YOU?

That's an interesting tactic. Sounds like it would work!

Two things that might help...   get in close, do a fly down cackle call, flapping your hat (sounds like a hen flying down) do this multiple of times. The tom might think his girls are going some where else. Also go in after 9 ish after he has had his fun and the girls are gone...   he might start to look for another girl.....

Thanks for the advice.I like the one idea but am afraid to try it right now.Tomorrow I will be out earlier and set up closer to where I think the will go(if they are still there) and do some calling. If I dont have any luck,I will get bold and do the first tactic.I do think thats a cool idea.

I would go mid- to -late morning and try to call in a lonely tom.

1. Forget the blind

2. Get closer if at all possible

3. Hunt them in the middle of the day when the hens leave them to go nest.

Get in close as possible and scout to see where they are hitting the ground at flydown..Be there, or as close as possible the next morning..I killed my Indiana bird the second day of season this way..I watched the big gobbler fly down the day before and gobble to my calls as he went the other way..If you aren't setup in the direction of travel of that gobbler when he hits the ground, he'll gobble his butt off, but he won't turn and come..He has a direction of travel , figure it out, be on the flydown side of his direction of travel, don't call until his feet hit the ground, thenvery subtle soft purrs and clucks, add soft very soft yelps, when he gobbles shut up and don't call again until he gobbles the next time, then give him very little, soft cluck, little purr and shut up...make him earn it and play hard to get...you do not want to call much at all...

Ditch the blind.  Get in there early and set up tight to them on the roost.  Tree yelp and fly down cackle then sit tight.
