Why the 835?

A friend of mine has been through 2 935's and both were problem childs.

What kind of problems were they having?

I finally bought a 935 little over two years ago, after having a pump.  I wish I had bought mine sooner.  By buddy has a 835 that he has had for years and my 935 shoots as well as it does.  One 935 has found a home (I would never shoot 3 1/2's out of his 835 but I do out of my 935 pistol grip turkey!!

I started hunting with an 835 last year.  Before that i hunted with a rhino choked 870 sps-t.  The quality of the remington was far far better than my 835.  Also i have had way more problems with the mossberg than i have with any other gun i have ever owned.  However my 835 patterns far better than any other turkey gun i have ever owned.  Therefore problems and all i choose to keep it around. I am picking up a bps 10 24in turkey gun in the hopes of getting a higher quality gun that will pattern exceptionally well. But i doubt i will ever get rid of my 835.

I have a 935, and it eats everything from cheap 2 3/4 to the 3.5. Never a malfunction or problem whatsoever. Still trying to pick the perfect choke for Hevi 13 in #6 or #7.

835 is easier to clean. No gas tube to clean up.

I think mostly the pump vs auto issue revolves around three things.
1) financial - they cost more.  If you don't have it or don't want to spend it.
2) problems - have heard of someone who had problems with an auto or have had problems first hand.
3) nervous - don't like the fact that there is more parts to clean and might be a little harder to maintain.

Just my observations.

Why the 835...

1 835 came first, many were bought before the 935 came out.
2 First 3.5"
3 First Backbored, 10 bore at 12 bore price
4 Far less complicated
5 Reliable
6 Built like a tank
7 Easy to get great patterns with multiple shells and chokes
8 Easier to clean, easier to polish bore
9 One shot should be all you need for turkey, auto loading is not required
10 Doesn't break the bank
11 You scratch it, you get mud on it, it doesn't ruin your day
12 Easy to mod, aftermarket sights, stocks, etc.
13 Lower cost for additional barrels

My buddy has an 835 that he has used for years and has such a great pattern.  That is one of the reasons why I bought a 935.  There are more 835's that 935 because..
1. Been made longer.
2. Less Expensive.
But I sure would not trade my 935 for an 835.
The 935 is a great gun made better..
