Do the heavyweight #7's tend to like tighter or more open chokes?

Tighter  in general. This is true with lead or HTL as far as shot size.
Larger loads such as 2oz. vs 1 3/4oz. also tend to perform better with slightly more open chokes than lighter loads within a particular shot size.
