Did we ruin a roost site?

I took a friend hunting for the first time last night and we got into a heck of a situation. It turns out we were set up right where they wanted to roost. They came close but we never got a shot. My friend was struggling to hold still and they got a little spooked but came back and roosted just 70-80 yards or so to out right. As we walked out we bumped one bird that had been roosted by itself, but the main flock seemed comfortable in the tree. Lots of shock gobbles to local owls. Do you think they will come back to roost there again or will they probably change roost sites?

If they flew up 70 -80 yds away, you didnt spook them bad at all. Your friend fidgeting with the gun was nothing. A turkey probably boogers at something it doesnt like twenty times a day. Most impt thing in those situations is to sit tight till its good and dark before u slip away. I had an old bird fly up in my lap the night before season opener one year. I had to lay prone until dark. Darn bird was inside forty yards of me. Snuck outta there, came back and killed him next morning. Deer and other critters prob flush turkeys plenty of times. Dont sweat it. Go back and kill one in that same spot tomorrow. Good luck!

They will come back. The only way they will not come back is if you shoot at them or flush them several nights in a row, or at least several night in the same week. Turkeys do not roost in the very same trees every night, ( in the area I live) but will roost in the same area most of the time, this time of year.

No affect at all. As a matter of fact sometimes an evening or early am flush is good. At first light they will be looking for each other and hopefully you find him first.
