I know the box says 1050 but that's probably out of a 30 inch barrel, has anyone ever chrony'd the velocities out of shorter turkey gun barrels? If so what were your findings?

Grunt-N-Gobble

Well, I didn't shoot the one's that say 1090, but the 3" Magblends I shot say they are 1200 and when i chron'd one it came in @ 1249.

Barrel was 25.5in. in an 11-87

I've chronoed a bunch of the 1090fps loads from various guns and got anywhere from 975 to 1160. Most come in 1050-1100.

Its funny how they vary so much for many of us.  They've actually held in that 1090 advertised range for me as mentioned.  It's neat how different chokes produce different MVs as well.  See it with my handloads as well.  Guess along the lines of the Venturi effect.

The fastest of the 1090fps shells I've ran was a lot of the 3.5-2.25-6 loads that were in that 1120-1160 range.  Funny thing was that lot didnt pattern worth a darn.

EMs subsonic claims don't hold much water from my experience either.  I've worked loads from below 1100 to 1240 or so and found the faster actually gave tighter patterns.

I was baffled at the same :z-dizzy:

Always thought it was a bit curious that EM claimed for years that their loads patterned best at 1090 fps, and then they went and loaded MBs at 1200 fps.  ???

What kind of difference from choked barrel to your pressure trace barrel?

It's choked as well and the fastest bbl I own.  The pressure peaks at the chamber, so it really doesn't have any effect on pressure peaks.  One thing I have noticed with some loads is that they double peak, but the second peak is much lower pressure.  Never really thought much about it, but I suppose it could be a slight pick up in PSI as the load hits the choke.
