turkey back to the truck

Today I killed a 25.6 lber.  Carrying it about a half mile back to the truck with all the other stuff, which I must have, about killed ME.   I turned 70 in January and this is getting harder to do each season.   Does anyone have some ideas or methods to make it a little easier to tote that turkey out?   Thanks from BlackQuack in Illinois.

I use a head and feet turkey tote.  Throw over shoulder and carry him like a carry bag.  It don't make them any lighter, but it does make them easier to manage.

Take some young whipper snapper with you to carry him back for you.

I use one of the orange Hunter's Specialties game bags.  It has straps to carry it like a backpack, plus, it keeps the blood off you.  Not that I mind having gobbler blood on my pants though.

I would put some orange on myself when carrying turkey back to truck. Dont want them someone carrying me, if you know what i mean

In a pinch I use and old rifle or shotgun sling and carry two apprx. 12" zip tie straps with me.

These don't take up hardly any room in my vest or small pack etc.

Zip tie one end of the sling around the head , the other end the two feet together...it carries just like the head and feet turky tote shown in the picture.    I did get pretty bloody carrying one back with the head down that way last year!!!

I have a friend that makes and sells slings for carrying turkeys out of the woods. They work great, I've carried every bird I've shot except my first two out with one and I'll never go into the woods without it in my vest if I can help it. I don't have one with me or a picture of one right now, I'm a college kid and I'm in my dorm during the week. But I'll send him an email to get one or post a picture of mine when I get home for the weekend.
