Just got this new call in from Amazon and my 12 year old son can blow it better than Knight and Hale combined. You will not believe how good this call sounds. I have tried it and I can't do much with it. My question- when is the best time to use it and in what type situation? It sounds so good I keep making him blow it just to listen to it.

i got one and i cant get it to do much ...... can i borrow your son? lol use it when you have tried everything else first or one day you cant get one to do much.

He is really good on a duck call too. It is frustrating to me to keep asking him what he is doing and he cant really describe his technique. I am not going to let it beat me, I will learn to blow it if it is the last thing I do!

I'm a big duck hunter too and have heard that this call is about like doing a "feeding chatter" on a duck call.

You say "ticka, tooka, ticka, tooka ................." about as fast as you can roll it off your tongue. Again, like duck calling, you get better at it the more you practice cause it's not a natural thing for people to be able to do well.

i can do the cadence but i cant seem to blow it hard enough to make the call work

If you really wanna have some fun an d become a believer, dont use it as ur last resort, use it as your first. Move in to a hundred yards or less of a roosted boss gobbler and dont even attempt a hen call. When he starts gobbling on the roost, copy him, and throw in an extra one just to spite him. Try to outdo him. When you hear the wingbeats, u better have your cheek on the stock. Far more deadly and effective than folks realize, because few have the nerve to break out of the mold and try anything but sounding like a lovesick hen. Give it a try. Gobbler yelps can be deadly, too.
That ol' tom's already dead. He just don't know it yet .... The hard part is convincing him.

Are you REALLY working that gobbler, or is HE working YOU?

Jakebird, you must have read my mind because this is exactly my game plan. I am tired of the traditional set up and get maybe 1 out of 10 or 15 to come in. I know we will call in some hunters too but so be it.

Just be extra cautious my friend. I carry a orange hat in my vest and if i even suspect another hunter is gettin close i slap it on in a hurry and shut up quick. Please be safe out there, but yes, its very effective.

Just odered the new K&H gobble call myself for 15 bucks so I figured why not.  Can't justify spending $50 on the haint and I can feed chatter well enough so I guess we'll se if its worth the money is spent.  Btw, you can't even find that call on retail stores shelves ANYWHERE...at least not around nw PA anyways...

Well I can report back how it has worked so far. The first time we used this call it was a last resort after working a henned up longbeard really close for an hour. Told my boy to hit it and he called in 5 strutting jakes that were with the longbeard but not saying anything. He missed a 40 yard shot but woods were a little thick. This weekend we went on a wma youth draw hunt and got no early action and were about to leave at 8 am and i told him to fire it up. He gobbled and a turkey shock gobbled right back at us less than 200 yards away. The turkey was lurking in the bushes but not saying anything until we gobbled. Switched to a box call and 35 minutes later my boy had his foot on his head, a 2 yr old bronzeback. I am making improvement on blowing the call and should have it down pat by next year.

Congrats, what a confidence builder! Glad it worked so well for you.  :)

If I had a dollar for every gobbler I thought I fooled I'd be well off!
