Rookie joining me this year has an old Remington Sportsman 58. It's a 12 gauge automatic with a full choke 28" barrel. Most shots in my set-up spots/blinds run 25-40 yards. What 2 3/4" load would you recommend for him. Thank you in advance for all advice passed along.

If he's willing to pay for hevi-shot (or any other HTL load), there are a few options. Otherwise, a good lead load to start with would be Winchester XX 1 5/8oz #6's.
