which is that?  i have the 3/2/6 and the 3/1 3/4/6.  i did not shoot the hv 1 3/4 oz today, but will tomorrow.

They are the Win XX 3.5" 2 1/4 oz loads my 835 loves the 6's out of a PG .670

I only bought 3" loads..nit real sure why, but figured they would be easier for my wife to handle and still kill to 40-45 plenty good

They'll definitely have less kick than the 3.5" beasts...but they'll still give a thump anyway.  ;)

For many years my old standby loads were 3" HV 5's and 6's. Now I'm going to try the 3.5" HV 6's in my new SBE2. In my experience the Win HV loads are as good as it gets for lead.

what chokes are folks running the HV's through?
You can tell a lot about a person by how they treat those who can do nothing for them or to them.

In my Benelli SBE I shoot Win. Supreme 3.5" HV 2oz. loads of #6 shot thru a Kick's GT .655.
Deer see you and think you are a stump. The Old Gobbler sees a stump and thinks it is YOU!

For years I have shot 3 inch winchesters out of my 835, both the black HVs and the red XXs.  The red XXs flat out perform the black one, not really that close.  The black ones are 1 3/4 or 1 7/8 (cant remember which) and the reds are 2 oz.

This past weekend I ran a Win XX 3.5 inch, 2 1/4 oz load through it and WOW! did it perform well.  Around 140 in 10 inch circle at 40 yards with factory xfull choke.

I'm running Win HV #5 thru a Jelly Head 660 with excellent pattern and dead turkey down wind of it.  I'm running 3.5 but last gun I used 3's with great results as well with this set-up.

My BPS in a 22.5" bbl and a 650 using HV #6s .The HV lead loads lean toward the tighter chokes.
It is also quite possible to have a choke way more open in certain guns and barrel lengths and still get good patterns. I like to have a few different chokes in case another hot shell comes along.

From all the posts I gather that:

WIN Supreme XX 3.5" shells and at 2.25oz load of #6 seems to perform the best for lead in Mossberg 835 with around a 670 restriction choke

If you want better patterns then go Heavy-13 blend or straight 7's

any other thoughts or recommendations for LEAD?

That is where I am going to start for lead - well those and the Fed FCW 2.25 oz 6's.
