Hunt To Remember ????

I was looking through some old turkey hunting pics and came across a photo I took while hunting Upstate New York. My best friend and I were working a gobbler between two hills that just didn't want to move. We called and waited. He wasn't far from us but not knowing if he had hens we didn't know if we should move or stay put. After about 30-40 minutes of trying to get him to move we decided to move a little on him and see if a new location would get him a little more interested. We started moving down an old logging road staying back from the ledge to help hide our movements. We came to a spot and thought it would be a good spot and try a call and started to set up. We look down and what did we see........





We couldn't believe our eyes. Never before have I seen something like this. It wasn't very big I'll tell you that. We didn't even know if it was alive and after closer examination we could see the fern in front of it's nose moving. We looked around and the doe was standing not far away watching our every move. We took a couple pics being careful not to touch it and headed off to let them be. Forgot all about the gobbler talking about one of the deer. Never did get a bird on that hunt but I got a pic of something few people have seen in the woods.

Very rare indeed! Count yourself lucky, because I've spent my life in the woods and only seen one fawn.  The one was brought to me in a shoe box after being attacked by a dog.  I took it to a wildlife rehab an hour away because I couldn't care for it myself at the time.

I had a couple fawn's that close but never had a camera when it happened.  It's always neat when you see mother nature that close,
