rising gas prices - high unemployment - instability in the middle east - threats to religious liberties here at home - increased acceptance of practices God calls an abomination - continued killing of innocent unborn babies in the name of convenience - overt and unashamed displays of indecency and immorality in media - crisis situations in the lives of loved ones - the list goes on...
Is anyone feeling overwhelmed yet? I remember growing up and hearing my parents say "you can't even open the paper..." or "you can't turn on the TV without..." followed by an expression of how bad the state of affairs of the day had become. To borrow a phrase form an old Loretta Lynn song, "We've come a long way baby..." I remember preachers back in the day that would question how long God could tolerate the goings-on of the world before He would utterly destroy it out of righteous indignation. As I sit and type, the words of an old Keith Green song come to mind...
Asleep In The Light

Psalm 119:169-176
The Message (MSG)
169-176 Let my cry come right into your presence, God;
provide me with the insight that comes only from your Word.
Give my request your personal attention,
rescue me on the terms of your promise.
Let praise cascade off my lips;
after all, you've taught me the truth about life!
And let your promises ring from my tongue;
every order you've given is right.
Put your hand out and steady me
since I've chosen to live by your counsel.
I'm homesick, God, for your salvation;
I love it when you show yourself!
Invigorate my soul so I can praise you well,
use your decrees to put iron in my soul.
And should I wander off like a lost sheep—seek me!
I'll recognize the sound of your voice.
