Is there any difference in how the Gobblin Thunder and the High Flyer are made other than the diameters of the openings?  We have several Remington's that are shooting a Kicks Gobblin Thunder with Hevi Shot 6 buffered very well and it seems there is mixed opinions if the GT chokes are ok for Hevi shot.  Nitro Ray makes some shells in Hevi that some rep they talk to at Kicks said it is ok to shoot Hevi through the chokes (Gobblin Thunder) as long as the shot has buffer but not ok to shoot Hevi duck loads that are not buffered like the turkey loads.  I have a 650 and 665 GT and would like to try them with the buffered Remington Premier Hevi Shot.

Do you all plan on offering a line of turkey chokes that are more up to date with modern Hevi ammunition that is labeled on the packaging?  There is a tremendous move towards the better than lead turkey loads.  Seems as Kick was once the industry leader in turkey chokes and now are only focused on lead.  I support Kicks and hope that everything works out to continue to use my Gobblin Thunders if I make the Hevi switch permanent.

My major issue and concern is safety then patterns!

My Kicks .660 and .665 both shot very well with the Old Rem Hevishot 3" 1 5/8oz #6 load, the old white Hevi shot 3" 1.75oz, Hevi 13 3" 6's and I am going to start on the 3" 7's.

Good luck with the response you want from Kicks.  I called a couple of times about it.  I usuallly got a different answer everytime.  Kicks are made from the 17-4 stainless just like all the other tubes and they are very thick.  Comp-N-Choke has had problems with heavy shot but they are not near as robust and the porting is 100% different.

Response:
No problem with Nitro hevi shot or basically any other type.  We do not recommend any hevi shot brand ammo

So.......Based on their response, it would lead one to believe its OK to shoot buffered Hevishot in their chokes but not NON-BUFFERED loads.

Ya know...........I've been cutting open several boxes on 3-1 5/8-6's with the "gold" hull to rob the shot and they do have buffer in them.  Granted, I don't think it is like the buffer we've seen Goldhunter add to his shells in his videos or the stuff I bought recently.

And I'm not talking about the plastic pellet shaped pieces either.

With this answer how does TSS and Federals 15g/cc loads come into play?  I would think that if their choke can take that ammo hevi13 should be fine.  I am asking because I am not too familiar with the above shot.

I spoke with a gentleman from Kick's today and asked a very similar question. As touched on earlier, the lack of buffer and hardness of the shot is the reason Kick's recommends not using Hevi with thier chokes. He did not specifiy a safety concern just the buffering and hardness.
