I just wish these little bugs had feelings so they could know how ticked off I am at them! I am overrun with lady bugs! I CANNOT get rid of them. Not matter how many times I sweep them up and seal off every window and door in my house they will not stay out! Does anybody have any suggestions on how to get rid of the little fart knockers?

Plant a garden and you'll come to appreciate them... they're great for getting rid of garden pests.  OR you could say, "Ladybug, ladybug, fly away home....

That"s cool if they are are Ladybugs, but you may have the Eurasian Lady Beetle which is a different kinda bug. Contact your local Co op extension office for info ,or do a google search.

I wish I could GET ladybugs!! I plant a nice little butterfly garden each year and hope to get some...last year we got like 2 or 3...LOL...but maybe this year will be it...

ladybugs are great for your garden...as said earlier...they eat the other 'bad' bugs from your garden.... course.. I hear ladybugs are bad if you plant herbs and such...cause they eat those!  :(

I was hunting in Idaho last spring.  I was working a bird and I quickly repositioned and sat down.  After about a minute or so, I looked down and there were probably over 100 lady bugs on my pant legs and even more on the ground.  Guess I sat down in a lady bug nest, I'd never seen anything like that.

They like light colored houses and hibernate under the siding. When it warms up enough to stir them some times they get a little confused and work inward as opposed to outwards. In the fall and spring we vacuum them up by the 100's every day. I have sealed all the windows which helps, but doesn't cure it. It's worse in the afternoons when the sun warms up the side of the house. At this point its just routine to run the vacuum on them. I've thought about trying to gas them but that's a temporary solution. I just wish I had them in the summer to late summer when my garden needs them the most.

I agree with Redarrow. That sounds more like Eurasian lady beetles. They tend to swarm more and to make matter worse,...THEY BITE! They usually look just like a lady bug, spots and everything, but they are more orange in color than red. I have had a bunch get in my house. We have regular exterminations so the usually came in and then died. We had to sweep a lot of them up. But they can bite you. Not as sweet as lady bugs.

MarkJM

Do both lady bugs and the Eurasian beetles give off an offensive odor? When these lidy bugs feel threatened they give off a terrible strong smell. Also the colors vary from very dark red to very orange with no spots. I do have a big garden every year and they do play an important roll in the lice population and 'potato bug' population. I just wish they would spend as much time in the garden as they do my house!

My parents have the same problem at time you can find them in huge pods of them in the attic....they tried to deal with them for year and then finally called a local pest control company.  They come and spray once or twice a year now and it has really helped.  Might try contacted one close to you.

They don't bite....that is urine that stings you and smells bad, I don't think they are true lady bugs but a beetle as mentioned...asian beetle to be more specific..

they are pretty dad up here...especially in the fall...I call en Halloween beetles as they tend to really show up in force around then

barry

Wish we had the ladybugs instead of these dang stinkbugs!!

Had the problem, I found that Terro Spider Killer does a good job on them.
The lable also lists more bugs which it kills. I just spray around windows and doors.
READ CAUTION ALL OF IT. I got mine at the local grocery store but also saw it at hardware and farm supply stores.

They do indeed bite. I have had it happen, but don't take my word for it. Read below.

And yes: I too, was at first suspicious about the biting stories. But many people have emailed to ask about it—and to report being bit! So I turned once again to one of my favorite entomological experts, former beneficial insect specialist for the Canadian government, and now private IPM Consultant Dr. Linda Gilkeson, who lives on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia.

She replies: "You bet those little critters can bite! They don't have any kind of venom or irritating saliva (like mosquitoes, black flies, etc.), but they are just big enough for us to feel it when they pinch our skin.

"I suspect the reason people are so shocked," she continues, "isn't that they got nipped (a minor insult compared to the bites of most other insects), but that it was the famously friendly ladybug of song and legend that did the nipping. It REALLY freaks some people out. I have heard of soccer games (played by hearty guys, all) being scrubbed because so many Multicolored Asian lady beetles were getting onto the player's white shirts.....oh the horror!"

Thank you, Dr. Linda. So we can now say, with sound scientific backing, that multicolored Asian ladybugs do indeed 'bite'
