My dad climbed telephone poles for 30 yrs for the telephone company in VA....I can remember watching him do it when I was little and could go with him.   He really liked his job but it was also very hard on his body and knees.

Yes it definately takes a tole. I had knee surgery in high school so if we do alotnof climbing in one day my will swell and hurt like a dickens.
