I prefer trips to be with my little brother or one of several close friends but I've gone by myself before and certainly will again.

YELPA

All the time.  Give me gas, a map, somewhere to sleep and gobbling turkeys and I'm OK.

I do...that way if I screw up..i've got no one to blame but me..less pressure when hunting alone...it's all on my schedule...

I always hunt alone in state and out of state. Like it that way...especially spring gobbler season. Don't like waiting on people or having to be somewhere at a certain time.

If I go out of state I try to plan it with someone else. Now my son is 15 and I try to schedule it around him being out of school for spring break. I'd rather have him along with me in the spring than anyone else. I know it wont be long before he is out on his own in the real world and we may not get these opportunities very often then. Gotta get them while I can. I'd love to get both of us a grand slam by the time he is 18 if possible. That is something that would live on through time for us.

While hunting at home though, there are times that I'd rather run solo. Gotta have some ME time every now and then.

I have made trips to Kansas, MO and TN by myself. Difficult to share the victories when you get lucky and get a nice one.

I've done a few solo hunts out of state. The longest was the year I retired I fulfilled a promise to myself and took a trip to the Black Hills, about 1100 miles from my home in MI. Shot the first Merriam gobbler I ever saw, in full strut, priceless!

Ya'll bout to get me fired back up for a out of state hunt alone again.... :gobble:
Guess I'll have to pick a state with all day hunting! lol

Brent

I don't mind hunting by myself at all but the comraderie of traveling with friends makes the hunt more enjoyable

You guys got it good, here in PA its stupid, the cutt the hunting off at 12pm. Only in the last two weeks of the season or so are you allowed to hunt all day.. So dumb.

As far as hunting by myself, I love it. Doesnt bother me one bit. Nice alone time but I do also love hunting with a buddy. Sometimes i wish I had a buddy with me to witness some of the things I have seen in the woods

Prefer to hunt alone, in state, and in the 3-10 states I hunt each year.

Southwest flight with free baggage, cheap rental car, find a Wally World for some cheap supplies, and then just hunt!

My record is landing at MCI (KC Airport) at 11 pm, pickup rental car, drive to a public land spot by 4 a.m., and dropping the hammer on an 11" bearded tom maybe 10 minutes into legal shooting time  :icon_thumright:

I've hunted alone many times out of state on all day hunts, and got no problem with it. Last few years have been hunting out of state with friends, which is cool too.

Uncle Nicky

I've done it plenty of times, I'd prefer it actually. Nobody to compromise with on where to eat, fight over whose turn to pay, nobody else snoring......
