I just got an 870 20ga and was wondering what everyone was shooting

You get a good mixture of folks that like the Hevi-Shot #7's or the Federal Heavyweight #7's. Both look to get great numbers. The only thing that you have to watch is with the Federal load the choke can not be ported, as the wad for this load is actually meant to stay with the load instead of being stripped.

I carry my son's 20ga youth gun sometimes when I know I am going to do a lot of walking. I have had great luck with the Federal Premium flight control load. At 30 yards it is super and at 40 still not bad. This gun has a hastings extra full choke. reflexl

Is the SSX choke ported on the top of it?  I saw holes around it...is this the choke to use with the FC shells?

I shoot mainly Remington Hevishot(the old stuff)#6's and Federal HW #6's through a .565 Truglo GSX and a .570 Hastings
