I'm holding back on having to go have a disc fused in my neck until after turkey season this year. I currently shoot an 835 tactical, and a 835 ultimag. I have had a ton on bbl work done on the tactical, stardot choke and shooting BIG #'s with the hevi 7's. I'm worried about what the tactical will do before and after my surgery, and contemplating on switching to the 935 turkey. Is the recoil THAT much different. It has been 20 yrs since I have shot a semi, Ive been shoooting the 500, 535, and 835's since forever. But was wondering for what it is worth, the  heavier weight, and less recoil, plus the thought of the semi not cycling for whatever reason. Not to say that it wont, but with my pump, I never had to even have a doubt. I'm not looking for a name bash, the Remington is out of the question, as for any other brand, sorry. Just positive and negative feedback on the 935. Thanks a bunch guys and God Bless.

How about a knoxx stock on your 835? It tames recoil very well, and a much cheaper option than getting a whole new gun.
Just my 2 cents.

I thought about it, but I am short framed already and use the tactical stock close.  With a scope, the knox is not my cup of tea. Just looking for something else I guess.

I had one and sold it to get an 835. It was a nice duck gun but I didn't like it in the woods. It was kinda lanky so I didn't like it when I was leaned up against a tree.

I gotcha. You're right. Bad mojo to use a knoxx and a tube style magnification scope.

I really like my 935. It's a heavy gun and when shooting 3" shells it still has some recoil but most, at least for me, is at the comb. I resolved that with a neoprene sleeve.

I only shoot 3.5" shells to evaluate a new product, mainly chokes but not in the turkey woods.

Mine is absolutely reliable even with 2.75" shells which are not supposed to cycle. I have loaded it with AA, STS and other 2.75" shells with various powder charges and it cycles them all. I've even used it in card shoots with inexpensive Estate shells and it cycles them.

Lastly, my 935 throws better patterns that the 835 or the SSi-ONE with the same .774 overbored barrels.

I'd recommend that if possible, you find someone who has one and give it a try. I think you'd see quite a difference.

Thanks,
Clark

I should also add the my threw hulls like nothing I have ever seen before. Don't let anyone on the right side of you for about  feet. Needless to say this fact was forgotten when I took a new bird hunter out with me in a blind.

Have you thought about the new Mossy SA-20? You may be opposed to a 20 gauge but it is so easy on shoulders and so bad on turkey noggins.

I have a 935 and for me the recoil is way less than a 835. I have a bulged disk in my neck and recoil is an issue with me as well.

I bought one three years ago and ended up selling it last year. Mine didn't always cycle 2 3/4 inch shells which was ok because I mainly bought it for turkeys. Never really had any complaints out of mine other than it was kinda heavy. As far as recoil, it was too bad out of it with the 3.5" shells I was shooting...

The 935 has less recoil than any of the guns I have shot.  Part of the reason is because they are heavy.  But I love mine and It was light enough in recoil that I shot my first 3 1/2" shells through it.  LOL  I hate recoil.
