choked out 870 ???

think ive choked out the hevi 13 #6s what do you guys think?
remi 870 3.5 2.25 oz #6s
26 barrel / rhino .660
taped 40 yds 60 degrees no wind
147 10" circle 146 20" cicle
shooting #7s last year getting 319 in 10" circle polished barrel just think the #6s need a more open choke or my gun just dont like them

Just by the numbers, I'd say yes too tight.  I'd try a .665 or .670 if you want to shoot #6

It's really more about the "internal geometry" of the choke than the exit diameter. You can take a look at Bird's patterns with the .643 SSX through his 870 and see that it's not the e.d. that matters but rather the design of the choke. Take a look at the thread "870 Truglo SSX" and you'll see his patterns.

Put a PG .670 in that baby and you will be very happy with not only the 6's but also the 7's too!

You are not choked to small.  650 to 660 should put good numbers up.  Now some times you may go smaller then that.   Just all in what has been did to the barrel and the lay out of the choke.

Shooting 319 in a 10 @ 40, I wouldn't waste my money, time, on another choke. Nothing worse than going and spending some money and its not as good as what you have..i did that..it was like burning money..I would just buy a box of 7's and go hunting this spring.

thats what im thinking but was thinking the 6s would do better than they did and was just a little let down

I dont know..Ive killed allot of turkeys with the Hevi 3/2/6's and 3/2/7's.  I couldnt really tell any difference in whether or not one killed better than the other. They were both devastating on the turkey. The turkeys ive shot with 3.5/2.25/7's (300 in a 10) had more damage than any turkeys ive ever seen.  The 7's look better on paper. The 6's would probably be a little better in adverse weather conditions. I havent tested the two for penetration or patterned them in the wind. I guess if you dont mind spending money the PG 670 would shoot either. Thats another 70.00 plus tax and shipping hoping it will shoot better than the rhino.

I have the exact same gun using the exact same shell with a jellyhead .660 and get 220 in a 10" circle at 40. You may give this choke a try and see if your numbers improve.

Wow! That's an expensive choke that's shooting 319 in a 10 @ 40. That choke is a killer with nitro 4x5x7 as well normally. You can send it to me before you throw it away. I will buy it if you are willing to sell. I have the identical gun and would love to see if it will turn 300+ in my gun. Send me a pm and we can work it out.
