last years 2011 contest

I was looking back at last years post an could see were I could improve on my pics. of the measurements I had. lets all make sure we do it right. I don't know if we had any deductions or not the score was pretty close on 3 to 4 places. Just wanted to remind everybody I know that I could of done some things better. Johnny...BigHooks...

Don't worry, I've been frequenting the rules and checking out the sample post that they used HobbleGobble's bird on.  The more pics the better I'd say, like one with the entire beard and then a closeup with the longest strand.  Good pics of spurs and the tape beginning at the base and curving along the outside to tip are also paramount.  They usually have the cheap little pocket tape measures with flexible tape for like 99 cents at walmart.  That's what I use to score my deer and turkey with.

You made a good point Johnny, If you kill a big bird the last thing you want is for it not to score high because of poor pictures. This is very important on multi bearded birds make sure you understand what
they are looking for on those. Just to be safe read the rules and take alot of pictures of your bird. also
the scale pictures should show your bird on/hooked to the scale. I will make sure I'm on point also this year.

I thought we all done outstanding last year for it only being our first year.
What I meant earlyer was they were only 10-12 points difference between 4-5-6 place. I know it's hard  for these southern birds to compete with thouse western birds. Especially the grain an corn belt birds.. We still have some goodin's here....LOL

You guys are right. Try and make sure you have a couple back up pics in-case. I'm going to post up and make a sticky of the rules and such similiar to last year.
