Fed up with Wild TV in Canada

Hi everyone, I will apologize first because this is going to be a bit of a rant.

When I first heard that we would be getting an outdoor channel (Wild TV) in Ontario, Canada I was pretty excited. I signed up for the channel as soon as I could, and I have to admit that I did enjoy it for the first few months. However, lately I have been thinking about cancelling it. Then I heard that January would bring new shows to the channel, and I thought maybe there will be something worth watching. WRONG!

The last straw was a show called "Jimmy Big Time" (I think). Dumbest show I have ever seen in my opinion.

Made the call today and said GOOD BYE to WILD TV.

A few years ago I watched the "Outdoor Channel" from the US. It may be different now, but it seemed to have more down to earth shows in my opinion. It still had a lot of junk, but it seemed a little better quality overall.

All I know is that when they pass the plate at church I will have a few more coins in my pocket to give. 

I will admit that I am getting more and more grumpy as I age, so maybe it's just me. Thanks for listening. I feel better.

There are some good shows to watch on pursuitchannel.com.  My favorites are Fist Full of Dirt and The Gamekeepers of Mossy Oak.  These are mostly Southern land management type shows though.  They have The Obsession Revealed, Turkey Call, and Turkey Thugs that pertain to turkey hunting.  And there is Midwestwhitetail.com for a good deer hunting show.  I don't watch tv on a tv much.

I stopped watching the Outdoor Channel all together. Its nothing but advertizing. I've learn more here on this forum in 2 days than I did in 2 years of having that channel LOL.

I cant stand watching too many of the so Called "Hunting Shows" . Most of them are paid advertisement for any number of products and then you watch them take bad shots on animals that look like you were hunting in a Zoo enclosure because they show no fear of Man and seem more tame than anything. Last one I watched the host so called stalked up on a mule deer buck, acutally slowly walked towards it with it seeing him to within 40 yards, then he shoots it and hits it bad almost to show how well his broadhead "compensated for " his marginal shot. Made me sick

I agree I only watch a few of the shows nowdays, used to love it but now, not so much.

Turkey Call & Turkey Thugs are good. They do run alot shows over and over..Sportsman channel or Pursuit channel both decent

I love the outdoor channel.

Many people choose not to employ the methods and strategies displayed by the "pros" and consequently cannot relate to the high numbers of animals seen nor the sheer number of mature animals observed on these hunts.

Low impact, minimal intrusion, scent conscious hunting strategies wield unbelievable results and these tactics are constantly employed by these hunters.

I enjoy watching shows like "The Crush" not because of Tiffany but because I listen to the information disclosed by lee about how and why he chose to sit a particular stand.  The same goes for any if the Drury productions. 

They all have to push products; they are in the industry to make money. However, the value of quality shows is not found in the promotion of products.  It's found in watching the application of proven tactics, understanding why and how they work, and also in learning more about the habits and behaviors of quarry by experts within their respective fields.

I'm not ignorant of the abundant number of poor productions with little substantive matter, that being said, anything with Jay Gregory, Mark Drury, Lee Lakosky, Steve Snow, Grant Woods and the Whitetail Freaks commands my attention.

I agree with you about WILD TV, I do not watch it anymore either. At first it was good but has progressively got worse every year.  Come to think of it do not remember the last time I even flipped to that channel to see what was on!!!
