It was decent enough to go out and shoot today so I decided to grab the 870 and a 3.5" mag blend and giver her a try out of pure curiousity and boredom.  Let me say this first about magblends.......OUCH!!!!!!! they hurt way more than anything I've shot before, including my last years winchester XR's.  I used a .660 JH and my barrel is 23 inches.  The numbers are almost identical to what the winchesters gave me last year in a Kicks GT .665 choke.  I may try the magblends through the kicks just to see if it likes a little more open choke.
FYI, those feet belong to my 17 month old daughter Natalie.  She loves to get into any photo any way she can lol.

I would hunt with that but not the kick, LOL Johnny..

Most of the time I hunt with A muzzleloader, It doesn't have the punch that todays shells  have ,but in side of 30/ 35 yards its devastating  I like them at about 20 yards  with the muzzlestuffer.

I decided to just hunt with my remaining winchester XR's so I cut one of the mag blends up.  I  was surprised to find very few 7's.  There were mostly 5's and 6's and I could swear there were some 4's in there too.  I had four different pellet sizes.  The rest of the shell space was consumed by buffer and flax seed??  What purpose would the seed serve other than to rob me of additional shot?

Here's a pic of what the Winchester extended range shell was giving me outta my .665 Kicks choke.  Much more even pattern and what do you know, the pellets were actually all 6's like it says on the box!!!

Aaron  I like the 2nd target better, like you said it has a more even pattern. I tried the magna blends last year and my gun didn't like them. I shoot a browning bps 12g  26inch barrel with a .665 Indian creek choke.
I normally shoot hevi 13 3inch #6's and figured it wouldn't hurt to try the magna blends needless to say my
brother got a left over box of shells. The hevi 13 has always been a killer with my setup, if it ain't broke don't
fix it.

X2 on the ouch.   First time I used the magnum blends, I actually cried ouch out loud and nobody was around to hear it.  I don't have a pic of 40 yards, but here is how my mossgerg 835 with PG 670 choke at 20 yards looks.  You know you spend all that time worrying about a 40-50 yard shot but the downside is you could miss inside 20 yards if you are not careful.  Don't be fooled by the big hole.  That is because the cardboard box had been used for several targets and was getting ragged.

Guns don't kill people.  Guns kill food.

Yes that's so true Xarcher, I know I've miss within 15-20 yards before because I took it to heart it was easy. Not true when you have a setup like mine at that distance it's like shooting a rifle. I know I'm not the first it has happen to, but I hope it's the last for me.

Yep, that's why prefer the 30-40 yd shots so my pattern has opened up enough to give me a little room for error.  I clean missed one two years ago that was just inside 20 yds and was pretty miffed at myself for pulling the shot.  I shot right in front of him trying to swing the gun around last second.

Some real good patterns guys. I'm hoping for some above freezing temps to get my old girl out and clean the rust off her.

Man, it was an abnormally warm 67 degrees here today.  Winter has never really showed up yet.
