Proud Papa

Yesterday California had it's first turkey calling contest since 2005. It was held at the ISE show in Sacramento where I had a booth selling my turkey calls. My hope was to have a couple trophies to show off in the booth for the next couple days. I couldn't have been happier. My son, Joey called in the amateur and the open division and I called in the friction and open. My nephew Jacob called in the youth Div. The youth went first and my nephew Jacob won the youth, even with a broken arm. The amatuer went next and Joey came in second. The friction was next and I won. Then there was the open. There were a couple really good callers that were calling, Shawn Hunkins (Lumpy) being one of them. When they announced my son Joey as the winner I was a very proud papa. In a fraze I am stealing from Kung Fu "the pebble has been snatched from my hand". It was a great day and I had some hardware to show off in the booth.

That's awsome, Joe! There is no greater feeling when your child does something awsome like that!

Great to read Joe!!!

Congrats to you, Joey and Jacob on the calling. I'm sure they both learned from one of the best.
