Faulty Timney trigger

I just installed the Timney trigger fix for the 870 and no matter what spring I use it fires on safety . I've even adjusted the allen screw with no luck . It appears as if there is not enough sear  engagement. Anyone else experienced this ?

Not with a timney. Sounds like your sear is not catching properly. I'm sure timney will make it right.

I had the same problem with mine.  I sent it back because it would fire with the gun on safe when you set it down on the stock.  This would happen when setting it down on carpet.  Does someone know what could be wrong.  I really liked the way it felt.

I tried calling them today but im assuming they're off for the holiday. Hopefully they will make it right because the trigger does have a great feel to it.

Have several rifles with their triggers in them and they have always been good to work with.

Just one suggestion prior to your calling Timney. I would recommend that you use some aerosol cleaner (or brake cleaner) and thoroughly clean everything in the fire control unit. There are times when "gunk" can really cause some premature firing problems with Remington trigger groups. Then I'd try the mid-strength spring. If it still doesn't work, I'm sure Timney will be able to satisfy you with their service. It's a very good company.

This may however be a bad time since I'm sure most of their folks will be at the SHOT Show. You may want to wait until the middle of next week.

Not what I wanted to hear either, seems like everyone was satisfied when I askes about the trigger in a post a few days ago.

I just ordered on a few days ago, but its on backorder. seems like every place that carrys them is out of them.

I just installed my Timney 870 trigger. I used the lighter of the three springs that came with kit. I tried the two heavier springs but liked the lighter one better. Everything seems to be functioning properly at the moment and I cannot get the firearm to fire while on safety, yay! The trigger feels really good and is a HUGE improvement over the stock trigger. Almost all of the creep is gone. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have to report back because of a malfunction.

That's good to hear! Definitely don't want any malfunctions with the safety on ANY firearm. You may not live to tell about it!
