Winchester 1200 20 gauge

I've decided to buy a new barrel for my 20 gauge, one with screw in chokes and a vent rib. If I'm able to get it before march what choke manufacturers would y'all suggest trying?  The chamber is rated for only 2-3/4" shells and I don't reload so no magic pixie dust for me . I'll probably order Nitro Ammo for it unless I can get a source of the good stuff.

You might have a  hard time finding modern HTL 2 3/4 20 ga. turkey loads for that gun , you may be able to find something suitable, but after you buy your barrel , choke , and ammo your going to be in the whole a pretty penny

For the cost of the barrel you might want to consider buying a whole new 20 gauge that is a 3 inch chamber and already threaded for chokes , you could also keep a eye on gunbroker for a 20 ga 3 inch win 1200

Good advice. The last time I checked, any 20 gauge barrels for the 1200 were hard to find and very expensive if you could find one.

There are several good 20 gauge 3" guns that are very reasonably priced and then you'd have a wider choice of shells and several good chokes to try.

i know a guy that has used this gun for years , he uses a jelly head choke and duck and pheasant loads to kill turkeys,,,,,

28" ribbed - 100 bucks with zero bids it is a 3 inch chamber , so I am not sure if it is compatible or safe to use on your gun - so do your research first

Normally, a 2.75" chambered barrel is just fine in a gun with a receiver built for 3" shells but not the other way around.

The potential danger is that someone might use a 3" shell in the gun because that's what appears on the barrel.

That is a great price however. Those barrels can be hard to find at any price.

Please be certain of compatibility of that barrel before purchasing , I am assuming your Winchester is a older variant - The auction is listed as a 120/1200 ranger , and the barrel pictured is stamped 120 Ranger -

The barrel is compatible with my receiver however I since it is a 1200 I would still be limited to 2-3/4" shells as, 1 I don't want to risk damage to me or the gun by loading a shell that it is not intended for and 2 I'm not sure the action would eject a 3" shell.

That is a fantastic price and I've always wanted a vent ribbed barrel with screw in chokes for this gun.

That is a good price indeed , heck if it comes with chokes , the chokes are worth that alone -

This is my sons Winchester youth - with a home made camo job, and a Burris FF2 sight , with just the factory full choke and Mag Blends it is a solid 30-35 yard gun -

I do have a Pure Gold .570 on this gun now and I will get it all dialed in , I'm sure it will be a reliable to 40
