Hey guys!
I dislocated my shoulder back in September, went through a couple weeks in a sling, well over a month of therapy, and while my range of motion is back, they're pretty sure I have a torn labrum.  So I'm having surgery on January 18th.  I'll have to wear a sling for at least 6 weeks.  So I'll have to lay off the lathe... But I'd appreciate your prayers! Thanks!
Merry Christmas!

You'll do fine with it.  I had my second one done in June.  Complete rupture of the rotator cuff, torn labrum severed bicep tendon and everything else you can think of.  They said I was looking at eight weeks in a sling and then several months of therapy.   I couldn't deal with the sling either time and only wore it two days and started home therapy about the third day and was shooting a bow by mid September.  I'm not saying thats the thing to do but when they tell you it will be six weeks in a sling I think they base that on the worst case.  The biggest thing is don't over do it, or under do it.  Go at your own healing rate and do the therapy.  I think the home therapy is as important or even more so than at the Rehab place.    Good luck!
If I'm not back in five minutes, wait longer!

Good luck Mike.  At your age, you should be able to heal relatively quickly.
A man fires a rifle for many years, and he goes to war. And afterward he turns the rifle in at the armory, and he believes he's finished with the rifle. But no matter what else he might do with his hands, love a woman, build a house, change his son's diaper; his hands remember the rifle.
