Why do you want to dampen the harmonics
Looks like a cool pattern. But watch grain, don't ask how I found out how much to leave. This pattern cuts off more grain then my ovals, but I would assume your going cnc on this bad boy. If so you can just relief cut every other hole.
And you will have to raise your prices because the bow manufactorer fanboys will all want one.

hahahahaha.....harmonics on a pot caller......I was planning on cutting it by hand on my scroll saw.....the thing about the grain issue is something I hadn't thought about, but makes a lot of sense, I guess I could make the ports smaller, and most likely wouldn't be selling the pot except for an arm and a leg, I planned on keeping it for myself.....or giving it up for Christmas. What do you do on your pots?

I use a router for mine. You could as well if you use a template and a bushing, that would give you the flexibility to just relief cut every other. Strength and design

hahaha...ufo was there any lil' green guys coming out of it? I thought about a router Douglas, I have a clear acrylic base on one, but I'll have to get a bushing and make a template......you using a straight flute bit on yours? I also thought about cutting a hole the size of the pot on one piece and gluing it to a base piece so the pot would sit flush and use some of that non-slip material in the bottom of it to hold the pot in place....what do you think?

I use a spiral up bit. cuts a lot smoother then a straight flute. I use a plunge router but I have noticed there is a tiny bit of slop in the bushings and this does add some chatter.
But you would need a smaller bit for this design and plunging into the center of the pattern and then working the template would eliminate the problem.
I am not following the cutting hole portion of the post.
I would take the time make a pattern and then get the bushing and a small spiral bit. With the jigs made up you could cut out copies in 5 min. Toss in a free hat and you have a $300 call
