I just took a job in Franklin KY near Bowling Green.  Lots of Farming and agriculture there.  I was wondering if anyone was familiar with the area.  I'm looking for a farm I could hunt.  Any suggestions would be helpful.  I also heard turkeys were everywhere there.

I live about 10 minutes outside Bowling Green. There are quite a few birds this way. Also the deer hunting is pretty good too. As far as land to hunt I'm not for sure of any down close to Franklin but for some really good land to hunt anything right on or close to Barren river will have you pretty well covered up in deer and turkey. To find a farm on the river I'd suggest looking at a topographic map and pick out a few good looking spots that wouldn't be to far of a drive and drive out and ask permission. Most people around here are pretty laid back and accepting of hunting and will give you permission. You will probably run in to a few places that are already being hunted by the property owner or their family but odds are it wont take to much asking of landowners to rack up a pretty nice amount of properties to hunt. Oh, and most important welcome to the bluegrass state.

Dad used to own a place around Austin Tracy, over by the State Park that was LOADED w/game.   I know you can hunt the low water areas of Barren River as well.  Just a thought, especially if you have a boat.

A little nervous about moving but hopefully this will be a good move for my family.  We hope we can make friends quickly and hope the people there will accept us "outsiders".  I do hate having to leave some of my honey holes here in alabama.  If I can't find any ground to hunt I mignt have to look some of you Kentucky guys up for a quick hunt. ;D.  Just kidding.  I'm coming up this weekend to meet the realtor and look at a house near Scottsville.   Hopefully we'll have a smooth transition.
