Funny thing is that there is not a fall season in LA except a lottery on one Management area.  It is a military base.  also there is no hens allowed during any season.

That one guy sure has scary eyes. I think brothers? The ones with long hair a strangely beards?

  Truth be known, they were probably on a game reserve or had special permission to get those turkeys.  Otherwise, it would be stupid to poach on TV.

Is there a Native American owned plot or area ,thats what I heard they hunt on ??

I gotta know from any of you fellas that have hunted them la, swamp turkeys...are all of them that calm and collected? .because those birds them fellas shot weren't exactly demonstrating normal body language for a wild turkey to Me..Cameras can show different perspective but those birds were just standing there like pen raised turkeys. Maybe I'm just dreaming. I didn't get a good look at the legs that's a good way to see the difference. You fellas know the markings and coloration better because I've never killed a wild turkey in la, for 2 hunters and a camera guy to be standing up and talking while the birds were just in a care free mood seemed odd. Then again maybe they were in shock.

That's what I thought. They seemed to be "stuck in their tracks". They were probably held in place by a stake. Yes, the camera guy/guys, the hunters and probably a sound crew to boot.

  I did enjoy the show though. The theme was all about love and love of family and giving thanks.

I believe they did that well. Families of all sorts. I enjoyed it myself

I though in LA they had Eastern turkeys but the ones they shot had lighter colored tail feathers like a Rio. Good show none the less.

I just placed a post on the NWTF board about this very thing. It was a good show, and Swamp People is one of my favorite programs on TV, but if the hunt was staged, and it obviously was a bit suspect, part of which I chalked up to "artistic license", and probably staging some segments after the fact, then I would seriously lose respect for both the show's producers and Landry himself. Troy is supposedly an accomplished hunter, and I thought it really strange that no attempt to call to the birds was made at all. I thought everyone in the South over the age of 3 knows how to call turkeys. 

I, personally, would have rather seen them go on a real turkey hunt, strike out, and have to go to the nearest supermarket and pick up a Butterball for Momma, than to shoot a couple of pen-raised birds for the sake of a TV program. I am not stupid, I realize "reality" television isn't always completely reality, but this is the first thing I've seen on this series that raises some serious questions, at least in my mind.

Well in my opinion there was a very good probability that those were pen raised birds put there.  At first I was suspicious.  But you guys raised the same doubts I had.
